Q. My husband seems to be less attracted to me since I had our baby 2 months ago. I’ve still got some of my baby weight, so that might have something to do with it…but a part of me feels like he’s just depressed. I’m not really sure how to bring this up with him. Any suggestions?-Confused in Ohio
A. The one thing that I would insist every couple to do–ESPECIALLY after a new baby– is communicate. When a couple has a baby, so many things change. If you don’t talk about what you’re going through, you’ll both end up feeling isolated (which can be a real mood killer). If you can, get your parents or in-laws to watch your baby, and go out on a date night. I know you’re feeling self-conscious of your body, but there’s no reason why you can’t put on a fabulous dress and feel good about it! After the two of your are relaxed and get used to being in that setting again, just come out with it. Tell him everything you’re experiencing and ask him how he feels. You’ll find that by simply being honest with each other and your feelings, it allows other (romantic) feelings to come back. As usual, let me know what happens!
