Amy Grant and Vince Gill Say Daughter ‘Provided a Sense of Glue’

In the February issue of Good Housekeeping magazine, singers Amy Grant and Vince Gill open up about life as a blended family of seven.

Both entered their 2000 nuptials as parents — Amy to Matthew, 22, Millie, 20 and Sarah, 17; Vince to Jennifer, 27 — but it is their only child together, 8 ½-year-old Corinna, that has united the extended brood.

“[Corinna's birth was] a great blessing for us,” Vince says.

“All of a sudden, we all had something in common. And we didn’t know it at the time, but it really provided a sense of glue.”

The timing of their union raised eyebrows, especially amongst Amy’s Christian fan base, but the 49-year-old songstress says she had bigger priorities.

“I don’t mean this in a flippant way, but I was so unconcerned by what somebody who I would never meet wrote in a rag,” she explains. “I felt like I had flipped a car over three medians and I was trying to figure out if my children — if we all — still had a pulse.”

And while Matthew, Millie, Sarah and Jennifer were all breathing, it couldn’t be said that they were doing well, either. “There have been a lot of hands-down, pivotal turning points, with a lot of words and tons of emotions,” Amy admits before adding,

“It was a long haul to feel like a family again. The parents have made a choice, but none of the kids have made the choice. And wherever it’s going to wind up, you’re not going to get there quickly. You just have to give people their space.”

Similarly, the couple make it a point to acknowledge the importance of their respective pasts. “The one thing we never tried to do is to say that life began for us the moment that we said ‘I do,’” Amy reveals. “A whole lot of life had gone before that, and it was worth, in time, integrating in a healthy way.”

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves are “doing fine” after the weekend birth of daughter Vida, the actor’s brother Rooster tells PEOPLE. In fact, the proud papa is boasting about his latest accomplishment.

“He called me on Sunday afternoon and said, ‘I made a little baby girl,’ ” reports Rooster. “He’s all proud … He’s got it going on now.”

Upon learning that Matthew is now the father of both a boy – 18-month-old Levi – and a girl, Rooster jokingly told his little brother “to quit copying me. You’re paralleling me. Hell, we’ve got so many McConaughey girls now, we’re all gonna have to learn volleyball and cheerleading.”

The holidays may bring a final showdown in the marriage of Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, a source close to the golfer’s wife tells PEOPLE, saying, “She plans to leave Tiger.”

Another source says, “She’s made up her mind. There’s nothing to think about: he’s never going to change,” PEOPLE reports in its upcoming issue, on newsstands Friday.

Photos circulated this week, showing Nordegren, 29, pumping gas into her vehicle near the couple’s home in Windermere, Fla., last Saturday, also captured the Swedish-born former nanny and mother of two (Sam, 2, and Charlie, 10 months), not wearing her wedding ring.

While the missing band “meant nothing,” insists a source, a high-profile Florida divorce attorney tells PEOPLE that Nordegren has met with lawyers to renegotiate the Woods’ prenuptial agreement.

On Thursday, workers began moving large items including what appeared to be works of art out of the couple’s home in Windermere, Fla., and Nordegren was seen giving them instructions, according to the New York Post.

Supermodel Gisele Welcomes Baby Boy

Could this baby be ANY better looking? We’re betting “no” with parents like supermodel Gisele Bündchen and quarterback Tom Brady.

While Tom Brady knew it was a boy before Gisele did (she wanted it to be a surprise, according to him.), there’s still no name picked out for their baby boy, born in Boston Tuesday night.

“I don’t have any picks [for a name], so we haven’t really chosen one yet,” Brady, 32, said Wednesday of their new arrival. “But everyone is great. Everyone is doing really well.”

This is the first baby for Gisele, 29, and the second for Brady, who has a 2-year-old son named Jack with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. So what does she think of the new addition?

“I wish [Tom and Gisele] the best with their baby,” the actress, 38, told PEOPLE in a statement. “I’m sure my son will enjoy having a half-sibling. I ask the press to respect our privacy while we are welcoming this new addition to our extended family.”

Stefani-Rossdales: Christmas in London!

Looks like Gwen Stefani and hubby Gavin Rossdale will have a Cherry-O time in London this holiday season. The rocking pair flew into London with sons Kingston James McGregor, 3 ½, and Zuma Nesta Rock, 15 months for a month in their dad’s hometown.

“We alternate [where we spend Christmas] each year,” said Gavin, 44. “Last year we stayed in the Los Angeles area, but now we’re excited about having an old-fashioned, European holiday.“

Katie Holmes Says Suri ‘Loves High Heels.’

Katie Holmes has sparked a lot of criticism lately for letting daughter Suri, 3, waltz around in high heels. Holmes recent explained her daughter’s foot fashion in an interview with Access Hollywood:

“She, like every little girl – she loves my high heels,” said Holmes, who says they’re not really high heels because they’re supportive. “They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids. I found them for her and she loves them.”

Hmmm. You know what’s also supportive? Sneakers! Maybe she should try them.

Celebrity Status: Brad Pitt started his acting career in television shows like Dallas, Another World, and Growing Pains. But it was his roles in movies Thelma & Louise and A River Runs Through It that sealed his hotter than hot status in Hollywood. His latest movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has given him his second Oscar nomination, and a new perspective on life. “Angie and I do not fight anymore,” Pitt recently told US Magazine. “What occurred to me on this film, and also with the passing of her mother [actress Marcheline Bertrand in 2007], is that there’s going to come a time when I’m not going to get to be with this person anymore. I’m not going to get to be with my children anymore. Or friends, people I love and respect. And so, if we have a flare-up, it evaporates now.”

Relationship status: Pitt had long-term relationships with Juliette Lewis and Gwyneth Paltrow before he married Jennifer Aniston in 2000. After seven years together, the pair famously divorced in 2005. “We still check in with each other,” says Pitt of Aniston. “She was a big part of my life, and me hers. I don’t see how there cannot be [that].” Pitt met Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005, and the couple have been together ever since.

Who Calls Him Dad: How much time do you have? Pitt and Jolie have a whole camp of happy children: Maddox, 7, Pax, 5, Zahara, 4, Shiloh, 3, and twins Knox & Vivienne, 1. “Having children takes the focus off yourself, which I’m really grateful for,’ says Pitt. “You can write a book, you can make a movie, you can paint a painting, but having kids is the most extraordinary thing I’ve ever taken on.”

Charges Filed Against Balloon Boy Dad

The family of Balloon Boy Falcon Heene will go to court in Fort Collins, Colo., at 8:30 a.m. on Friday the 13th to admit their guilt.

David Lane, an attorney for the father, released a statement Thursday morning saying the 6-year-old boy’s mother, Mayumi Heene, will plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false reporting to authorities and his dad, Richard, with plead guilty to a felony charge of attempting to influence a public servant.

Lane said in his statement that Richard will “fall on his sword,” and take a felony plea to prevent his wife, a Japanese citizen, from possible deportation.

Global Attention
The family garnered international attention on Oct. 15 after calling in reports to the FAA, 911 and a local TV station that their son had crawled into a saucer-shaped balloon and taken flight.

After nearly two hours in the air, the craft landed without anyone aboard. Falcon later was found at home, claiming he had had been hiding in the garage attic because his father had yelled at him.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s department met with the couple two days later and obtained what they said was a confession from Mayumi that the incident was part of a hoax planned to help them obtain a reality TV show.
