Etsy.com Designer:Amanda Ornat from SmallFly

What does she design? Hot fashion for cool kids.

New Parent: How did you get into design? I’ve always been drawn to anything that involves creativity.  As a kid, I did woodworking with my Dad.  My sister and I used to make fairy villages out of sticks and moss and acorns, and I would draw incessantly.  After high school I did a stint as a videographer/ editor.  I still cannot bring myself to buy anything that I think I might be able to make myself.

What motivated you to start your own Etsy store? We needed to bring in some extra income, but didn’t want to be away from our boys all day.  Etsy allows me to be home with them.  I work during naps!

What is your favorite item you are currently selling? I really like the leopard print superhero wings.

Do you have a favorite design website or other Etsy seller you love or get inspiration from? Pixiebell’s shop inspired me to learn to knit.  I love broksey’s laptop cases.
