They're a powerful combo. So, for the best childbirth and parenting experiences, get informed, then trust yourself.
I wish I'd had "Labor Q&A" before the birth of my son. It's a concise
summary of expert answers to questions we culled from moms-to-be, ob/gyns,
midwives and childbirth educators. With the absolute clarity of hindsight, I
realize just how much I didn't know about my own labor, particularly as it went
on forever (I received Pitocin to move things along) and threw me curves (like
when my son flipped "sunny-side up"). I also remember questioning my own ability
to get through it. As a relatively confident professional woman, I was unfamiliar
with the feeling of being out of control, and the uncertainty of ultimate success
was new to me. It made me very uncomfortable. Then the Pitocin kicked in, Chaz
was born, ruddy and loud, and my husband and I knew a joy we'd never
felt.
Well informed is well prepared, and if there's one topic with seemingly endless
information to absorb, it's pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. It is our goal
at New Parent to provide you with the best information in the most useful
way.
Pregnancy is an amazing time. Our bodies change, our relationships change, our
lives change while we grow and nurture our tiny miracles. There are so many
questions. Remember to speak up, ask the questions, get the answers or keep
asking until you do - you're not just asking for yourself, but for your family as
well. And, as you listen to the answers, remember to always listen to one other
voice - your own. Because there really is such a thing as mother's intuition, and
you have it, too.
