Want to get back in shape while bonding with baby? Do yoga together. "Yoga can help fight postpartum blues, strengthen muscles and make you feel better about yourself," says Laura Staton, co-founder of Baby Om, a New York City-based yoga center where moms can play with their infants while holding poses. "You're also sharing a wonderful experience with your baby." To make yoga with your baby a success, wait at least four weeks after giving birth, six weeks if you've had a C-section. Start with 10-minute increments, building to 45-minute sessions. Pick up a copy of Baby Om by Staton and Sarah Perron (Owl Books, 2002) or the Baby Om video (babyom.com). Or call local yoga studios or health clubs to find out if they offer a similar workout.
