We went through this same issue with our son. I was told that they just want to mimmick what you say and do, especially if there are no other children in they house for them to follow. So my husband and I just started calling eachother mommy and daddy whenever our son was around. Within two weeks our son was back to saying daddy. We did however continue to not use eachothers names around our son until he went to preschool. It’s kinda weird at first but you get used to it.
