Britney Spears and Ellen DeGeneres surprised several Los Angeles residents by showing up at their homes and singing Christmas carols this past week.

The duo, dressed in old-timey dresses, taped the segment for the Ellen show, and hilarity definitely ensued (see the clip below.)

Britney, whose new album, Circus, just went #1, taped a more traditional holiday greeting on her website. Standing in front of her Christmas tree with son Sean Preston, 3, by her side, and a burping Jayden James, 2, in her arms, Britney said:

“I want to wish everybody out there a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I want to thank all of my fans for making my album Circus # 1.” (video below)
