We love reading to our children as a way to connect them to new sights, sounds and words. Even though they may not be able to express their excitement through words they can do so through the visuals in books. There are several modern tales that we just love, but we also admire the classics – timeless books that transcend through time. Here are some of our favorite classic stories.

Goodnight Moon. I must have read this book hundreds of times to my daughter, and every time she got excited as we said goodnight to the room to the mush to the old lady and on and on. As a calming poetry, this is the perfect book to calm and lull your baby to sleep.

pat the bunny. Written by Dorothy Kunhardt, pat the bunny is an incredible touch and feel book that has been entertaining babies for over 60 years. I loved reading this book with my baby as we had fun playing activities like looking in a mirror, smelling flowers and feeling Daddy’s scratchy face to encourage interactivity and sensory stimulation. Inspiring curiosity, the book now features four pages that are restored from the original publication that was first released in 1940.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Another classic in our home, I love the illustrations and simple word play in this beloved tale by Eric Carle. Combined with Bill Martin’s singsong text, these books feature unforgettable imagery and colors of these fun animals that bring this world to life.
